Care Cap Reforms (Oct 2023) - Are your systems ready?

In September 2021 the Government announced a £86,000 cap on the amount that anybody in England will need to pay for their personal care, in their lifetime.

The reforms are due to come into effect from October 2023 giving Adults Social Care departments just 12 months to implement major changes to the way they deliver services to residents, their families and care providers. It is anticipated that already high caseloads and limited resources will be stretched further, with more people than ever before, being eligible for support.

Local authorities may need to implement portals to give customers self-service tools, and automate and simplify existing processes within their case management and finance systems to help manage the increased demand, while needing to conserve existing internal resources.
